This diverse set of titles includes both fiction and non fiction books which will facilitate 10th and 11th graders to have a variety of options when choosing a title for their Independent book project. These books will be part of our classroom library in which students will have direct access to these titles when working on this reading project. My diverse student population needs access to books that can be both "mirrors" and windows" into their lived experiences as they embark on this project.
Student will ultimately continue to cultivate a love of reading and also work on a project that will include a writing assignment and a visual representations of the books they choose to read. These projects will also function in cultivating a student voice that will be the center of how students relate to these titles. They will share their personal experiences related to what they read and persuade others of the authors purpose, content, style and ultimately potential beauty of what they have experienced.
