Leveled books allow students' individual needs to be met. Children develop as readers when they are practicing with text that is at their just right level. The students will spend time each day reading these books independently and with partners. As they read with partners they will help and support one another. They will also engage in academic conversation as they discuss the characters and setting and make personal connections to the text. A lifelong love of learning begins at a young age. Allowing children to have their hands on a variety of books at their own level fosters this love.
