First grade is a year of tremendous growth. My students move from pre-reading skills to building strong foundations in independent reading, spelling and writing. All of these donations will be used daily during our independent and guided reading stations. This time of the day is one of their favorites!
With these valuable supplies, my first graders will be on their way to becoming independent readers! My students will use the book bins to store their books that have been chosen at their reading level to read independently, with a friend or with a third grade book buddy. The scoop rockers and stools will provide a variety of seating options for the students when reading rather than only sitting at their desk. This will allow them to move to different places around the room which will be very beneficial to many learning styles. The wireless doorbell will help signal transitions between rounds of guided reading. Lastly, the display shelf will be be a fun focal point so that the students will see the engaging literature we will be reading throughout the week as a whole group.
I truly believe these donations will help make a difference and benefit all my students. I can't wait to see an increase my student's reading stamina and an even greater love of reading!
