How do you sit to read a book? I like to curl up somewhere soft to read and so do my students.
I have seen how alternative seating can energize learning especially for students with sensory needs. The futon mattress will replace an old worn one that we had donated to our room. The soft place the kids put their feet up to complete work has been effective for daily work and assessments.
We also have a standing desk in the back of our classroom. The bar stools will give the kids an option to quickly and quietly grab a seat instead of going to another seating area in the classroom. The raised seating option the bar stools offer will let the kids dangle and kick their feet as a way of wiggling in a way that does not distract other learners.
