Does a pediatrician go to work without his/her stethoscope? No. Does a hitter step up to the plate without his/her bat? No. Does the average high school math student without a calculator consistently perform as well as the average high school math student with a calculator? No. Proper "tools" are always needed to be successful! In my classroom, a scientific calculator is used as frequently as a pencil. From bell ringers to exit tickets, my students utilize this tool. While some students come to class equipped with this device, unfortunately others don't (or can't). Day to day...there are so many factors that a teacher cannot control. Having a classroom set of TI-30XIIS scientific calculators will provide my students with the opportunity to be successful everyday!
