Some of my favorite memories from elementary school involved music. I am hoping to create memories for these scholars by introducing them to creating their own music. Music has be proven to help students learn and retain information. We will use recorders and sticks to create our own music, have performances for families and friends, and allow the students to have an outlet for their emotions.
Reading is still fun and fundamental. Showing students that there are many genres of storied allows them to learn and explore the world around them. Also, the excitement that children have when they read a book independently warms that heart and boost their self esteem to read more.
We will not only have independent reading time, but will end each day with a whole class read aloud.
