I strongly believe in establishing a consistent rewards system in the classroom to stimulate learning and to increase positive behavior. For this reason, I implemented the use of green character counts tickets to reward my students for positive behavior, significant improvement in different academic areas, classwork, participation, and homework. Then, at the end of each month, I will open the “classroom store” where they will exchange their green character counts tickets for different incentives/rewards. The number of tickets that each student earns each month will determine how many incentives they can get from the "classroom store" This will motivate students to work harder in different areas in order to earn more green tickets each month.
This rewards system will promote and increase positive behavior and at the same time, it will motivate my students in the learning process, which will encourage them to participate in the everyday classroom tasks.
As students receive incentives/rewards for their hard work and for their positive behavior, they will increase their self-confidence because they will create a feeling of pride and achievement in different areas. In addition, this rewards system will also motivate students to complete their homework and to become more responsible with their home assignments.
