When it's time for whole group instruction for math and science, my students have to stay at their desk because we have no rug for them to sit in front of the board. Some students aren't able to see as well and other students are uncomfortable turning their neck constantly to face the board. The rug would give us a place where every student could sit comfortably with their clipboards and focus on the lesson. It also gives students the opportunity to interact with other students they may not sit near. This promotes a positive family-oriented culture and allows students to learn from more than 4 students.
