During the first semester, rather than just use a book, students will use the materials to create new instruments, building on their current knowledge, and learning about sound using differentiated learning. The rubber bands will enable students to understand the physics of sound and how it travels.
As the second semester rolls around, the students will use the art supplies to better their understanding of the elements of art including shape, texture, and line. The students will also learn proper techniques in using materials such as glue and how to care for the materials as well.
As the students expand their learning, I hope they will begin to foster a love for the arts that follows them through their whole academic career.
