Students grow food in the school gardens and greenhouses to learn how to be more sustainable and healthy. Using renewable resources wisely while teaching students about soil and water health is key to the goal of this project.
The solar ovens will be used to prepare limited ingredient meals using food grown in the school gardens or harvested from the local community. Students will learn how to prepare simple, healthy, inexpensive and native foods that can be easily grown in the desert southwest. The other supplies will help ensure the pond and soils are healthy and students will learn basic chemistry too.
