Sensory products will bring learning alive for my students! Sensory rich materials encourage exploration and help to motivate young learners. Students with autism lack motivation, as it is a component of their disability.
However, sensory materials provide immediate motivation and an opportunity for exploration that students will find nowhere else! Likewise, sensory materials calm and help students make sense of their immediate environment!
Students with autism are drawn to materials that allow them to build, create, and explore. Educational products that light up, allow students to create and build, and water exploration kits are especially great! The organization is very important to students with autism. The classroom setting must be well organized and not overly stimulating to create a calming environment. Seating that allows students to move freely encourages participation and provides additional freedom to move during an engagement. Also, weighted vests, sensory swings, and other accommodations allow students the comfort to make it through the day successfully! Thanks so much and I hope you will help to fund my very special learners!
