Donation of the Carpettime Around the World Carpet and the United States Carpet will support the Skying Around the World project and help it become more meaningful to the students. They will give the students a spot in the classroom to relieve the experiences. The project is designed to give the students a global perspective. It will broaden their knowledge of different countries in the world, where they are located, facts about them, and they may even meet citizens from them. The executive that the students will Skype with is based in Philadelphia. The United States map carpet will help the students gain information about where Philadelphia is, what states they must travel through to get there, etc.
On the day of the SKYPE, students will “go through Customs," “board an airplane” and meet the executive in the country (via SKYPE). Once “in the country” students will see a location in real time. The executive will discuss with the students what they learned about the country prior to their "travel", provide additional information, and may even introduce them to residents of the country.
Each day, the Carpettime Around the World Carpet and United States Map Carpet will help the students relive their visits to other states and countries. The Carpets will reinforce the students’ experiences in each, and It may even stimulate their curiosity about other states and countries.
