It's motivating for students to be able to choose a soft, wiggly, bouncy stool to sit on, instead of a hard chair.
When thinking about engaging the body and mind, I feel it's important for students to have flexible seating options.
During lessons, I'm asking students to participate in activities that may be difficult for them. While doing this, they should be able to choose a seat that is best for them. I added a variety of stools to my project wish list.
Research shows that, "When students sit on stability balls, both sides of their brains are engaged in keeping their bodies centered on the balls. And when the brain is stimulated, it's more focused on learning. Not only is the brain better suited to processing new information, young minds are also better able to concentrate on exams, note-taking, class discussions, and other aspects of classroom learning." -sportsrec
