Johnson High is a medium size Title 1 high school in Savannah, Ga. We serve around 750 students mostly from nearby neighborhoods. We also have a small IB program within our school that helps students receive college credits before graduating.
I am the only art teacher here. I teach level 1 art classes where we focus mostly on drawing, painting and an introduction to clay/ sculpture. My level 2 art classes work with more advanced materials and techniques. And I also teach an IB art class, where students create a large body of work, have a solo exhibition and write essays about art history.
A fun fact about me, is that I am an alumni of Johnson High. I like that I have this in common with my students and that I am bringing something back and contributing to my community in this way.
