I would love to give my students the opportunity to work hands on in my science classroom with project-based learning. I am a new teacher, in a new school, with a new grade level added to that school. Our science department is very limited on supplies and does not have any of the traditional chemicals or supplies found in a biology classroom. I teach at a school designed for children with dyslexia so my students benefit greatly with labs, project-based learning, and hands-on activities. With the materials, the students will be able to test for starch, sugars, and proteins in common foods and to get the experience of working in a traditional science classroom with safety protocol. The classroom that I am in does not have any safety equipment that the students will need in order to perform these experiments.
I would love for my 7th graders to get an authentic and exciting science experience where they can see the content taught happening in real life and where they can let their creativity shine.
