The materials that I have requested will be used to create a relaxing atmosphere for independent reading. My goal is for students to read for enjoyment. As adult readers, we know that some of our best reading time is when we're sitting comfortably and reading a book of our own choice. With the purchase of a bright rug, books that are culturally relevant and comfy seating, I know my students will increase their reading motivation. These materials will help my students make the shift from seeing reading as a chore to reading being a choice. "Love is....what makes a chore a pleasure." In the school setting reading is a daily requirement. Let's see what happens when students truly enjoy reading, something that was once a mundane task. The outcome will be increased reading achievement and a lifelong love for reading.
