Students love listening to books along with a cd. The materials I am requesting will provide a listening center for my students to access independently (or with a peer or teacher) during free play. Since most of my students speak a language different from mine, a listening center will provide an opportunity for them to hear stories in their native language, which will help build their vocabularies. Increasing their vocabularies in their home language also improves their abilities to learn a new language. Although I have some literature and cds, I do not have a CD player or storage to help designate this interest area.
