Nevada Educator Performance Framework for School Counselors provides that counselors will "implement a curriculum, offer planning and deliver responsive services in order to assist students in developing mindsets and demonstrating behaviors for academic, college/career and social/emotional development" (Standard 2). Using my requested resources I will fulfill the students post-COVID needs by adequately preparing curriculum that addresses their social and emotional needs which can enhance their academic work.
Promoting student success through a comprehensive counseling program is the goal at my school. Resources that complement the counseling program, such as the items I've requested, allow for broad access to multiple counseling strategies.
Students come into the counseling office with varying deficiencies in coping skills, sensory overload, peer conflicts, and deficient conflict resolution skills. All resources pertain to these categories and will help students address these social/emotional deficiencies due to the lack of socialization during the COVID-19 pandemic.
