Kindergarten students are beginning their journey into reading! They are learning letter names and sounds and starting to put words together. They participate in activities like recognizing print around the room, taking picture walks through books and eventually, reading books for enjoyment!
The students beam with excitement as they recognize letters, words and sentences inside books. They love reading to one another and being read to. Sitting in a special area to read is fun and enjoyable. Having a comfortable area for reading contributes to a child realizing that reading is a way to relax and to be entertained, alone or with classmates.
