We intend to drastically reduce the amount of recyclable items often thrown away with food and other non-recyclables.
Our third graders plan to place recycling bins in each classroom and offices in our school for paper and plastic recycling. We also plan to place recycling bins in our lunch room as well to sort paper and plastic from food waste and other non-recyclables.
This will provide a real life opportunity to make a difference rather than merely study it from a text. Our students plan to measure the amounts of trash collected for recycling, and educate others about the importance of recycling as well as encouraging others to use reusable packaging and create incentives within our school for others to recycle.
