I have requested enough individual packets of modeling clay for every one of my students to receive an equal amount with which to do at least one sculpture project in art class this school year.
In the past, I have done sculpture projects with my students using DIY materials like corn starch and baby oil and as fun as that is, my students deserve to explore other materials, too.
With this donation, I would like middle school to create some relief tiles for a mosaic to personalize our garden. I would show intermediate how to sculpt and decorate sugar skulls for Day of the Dead. Primary grades will be practicing their letters using clay snakes to create a name plate. All grades will get to enjoy that awesome feeling of squishing clay into shape and watching it transform.
