Our classroom library is pretty sparse right now. We don't have a rug, so my second graders sit on the hard floor. We have some books but need more as most classrooms do. Reading is such an important skill for any child that the environment should be inviting and comfortable at the same time.
I am a first-year teacher, so I am lacking many of the essential supplies needed for STEM activities. That's why you will see magnets, Legos, and a few other items on my list that are STEM-related. My second graders love to build with their hands! Let's give them the tools to do so!
We do not have a separate Art teacher or room. As a general education teacher, I incorporate Art into our lessons. I am lacking a great deal of material to make these Art projects work. Art is important because it helps a child's creative come alive through colors, shapes, and many other avenues. The best thing about Art is that it is subjective and sometimes kids need to express themselves through imagination and creativity.
