Using the books listed, students will choose the one(s) throughout the year that they feel called to read. Each novel focuses on our classroom themes of perseverance and empathy. Novels were selected based on these themes. Books selected are all age appropriate and within the reading ranges of the students' abilities.
Each reader will have a chance to "walk" in the character's shoes, thus broadening their own individual understandings and viewpoints. Books should take students on a journey, not only to magical, imaginary places, but also into the lives of others through realistic fiction. Let the reading adventure begin!
