When students finish their work before others, they are invited to explore different centers for independent work, and they need read high-interest books for them to enjoy. These books will live in the math classroom as a library for students to enjoy after they finish their work. I want to ensure that love of reading is spread throughout the day and not isolated to reading blocks. These amazing informative STEM books will allow my students to explore different contexts for math. Books about science, architecture, and technology will not only allow students to learn how math is applied in the real world, but also spark interest in potential careers for students. I want students to see that math is not just a subject you learn in my classroom, but a tool that helps you understand the world.
