SSR (Silent Sustained Reading) is one of the many ways I intend to develop students' reading and writing fluency. As a part of our class practice and culture, there will be a 20-minute segment during the day where students (along with myself) will silently read an appropriately leveled text of their choice. By creating a library with a variety of texts, students will have greater access to materials to help them acquire a greater breadth of vocabulary and reading comprehension as well as connecting to stories outside of a structured lesson. It is also my goal to have students develop a love for reading and recognizing great authors!
