We have a full class of 22 four-year-olds ready to turn 5 with just me as a teacher. In order for every student to have the tools they need to feel heard and help better understand how to regulate, materials are desperately needed.
Most TK classrooms have "flexible seating" which has been shown to increase focus and have better input/output responses. In order for this to happen for our classroom, wiggle chairs and a trampoline are needed. Objects they can fidget with in their hands or at their seats will help students with special needs as well as the average learner!
At this age, I want them to want to come to school and crave learning as well as build up their confidence. This project is so important to me because the lack of materials my students need does often affect the outcome of their perspective and academic achievement. I want every child to want to read, want to focus, want to try, want to excel, want to deal with their emotions in a healthy way, and want to be at school.
