My students love to learn songs that involve instruments of any kind. Adding a new string sound to our classroom will be exciting. Ukuleles are pleasant to listen to and easy for children to begin playing. We will learn familiar songs first and begin with the three basic chords most songs include!
My students are already familiar with small and large group instrumental music so adding ukuleles will be easy. Many children already know how to play the piano, recorder, xylophone, and drums. We will create fun, exciting instrumental pieces for classroom fun and parent/community performances.
We will learn several genres including folk, rock, pop, hip hop, blues, and classical music. Our curriculum includes reading music, improvising and composing. This is our first Donorchoose project, and if successful, I plan to add a drum set, guitars, microphones, electronic gear, and movement props.
