My art lessons are always centered around a famous artist from art history or a creative technique. I begin each day by telling the students a story about a famous artist or demonstrating a fun art process to get them engaged in what they will be doing in my class.
Sometimes, I even teach them a chant or dance to go along with the standard! For example, to teach directional lines, we learn a dance with horizontal, vertical, and diagonal movements. This happens in a group setting in an open space in my classroom.
I would love to have this rug in my room so that the students could sit on it comfortably during our lesson introduction rather than on the cold tile floor. It would also be great for teaching the kindergartners colors in English and Spanish!
