A piano is used daily in music class, from playing songs to practicing solfege. A piano allows me to teach the students to distinguish between pitches by providing an aural example with the keys. It also helps me teach students different songs for our music programs.
Playing the piano has many benefits, including better listening skills, stronger hand muscles, stress relief, and the ability to handle criticism better.
Some of my students are learning to play piano outside of school and they often ask if they can play for the class to show off what they have learned. I am also planning to start a school choir, and a piano will be beneficial in playing vocal warm-ups and teaching songs.
