As the Visual Art PLC leader at my school I am trying to implement STEAM activities into our students' everyday lessons and curriculum. In order to do this we need to integrate more technology into our art practice.
STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, ART, and math! A lot of emphasis is placed on adding art education into the science and technology, and core classes, but less emphasis is placed on connecting these subjects back in during the designated Art class. Our students crave engaging STEAM activities, but for some of my students, they may fear that these classes are too advanced for their current abilities. By introducing STEAM principles through an art class, it will be perceived as less intimidating and students will view it as more accessible to all types of learners.
In order to make these STEAM activities possible for our students we need technology integrated projects such as those we can do with the Cricut Maker. Donations of these items will ensure every student in our school is able to participate in STEAM activities that will further their academic learning. Please help me provide these 21st century learning opportunities to our students!
