Students ages 5 and up will be required to use face coverings in the classroom this year. The first year of school can be intimidating for many students, and teachers rely on reading their facial expressions to be able to gauge how they are feeling. Face masks make that nearly impossible to see how a student is feeling, and especially if they are not verbally expressing themselves, as many Kindergarteners don't at the start of school.
These face shields will bring a sense of normalcy and fun into the classroom for my Kindergarten students' first year of school. They will be kept at school in their individual cubby boxes and sanitized daily. This also eliminates many distractions and discomfort that a face mask causes young children. These face shields will allow my students to stay healthy and learning in the classroom.
