These materials will help to fill a gap I have noticed with our students. We have many students who are facing food insecurity and, therefore, have a hard time focusing on school because they are hungry. A snack closet was developed last school year and gave out over 500 snacks to students in need. We saw an increase in student engagement, a decrease in behaviors AND students knew they were cared about on the most basic of levels. This project will help expand the snack closet to my second school of assignment- where there is a very large need. Not only will snacks be provided for students, but materials will help me develop kits for self-regulation for our most needy of students. They will help me develop strategies that work for them and they will have something that is theres so they can learn to be an independent problem solver.
