Each year, 12th graders at our high school in Dorchester complete year-long senior capstone assignments to demonstrate our vision of the Graduate. The Vision of the Graduate aims to send students into their post-secondary lives with critical thinking skills, job readiness, as well as a firm grasp of our core values.
These classroom laptops will help facilitate these year-long projects and teach students basic technology literacy. One-to-one technology seems ubiquitous in education today, but my students still lack frequent, reliable access to laptops, which leaves them grossly underprepared to join the workforce or continue their education at a post-secondary institution. Not only will these Chromebooks facilitate their capstone projects, but they will help make our education system more equitable for my students, the majority of whom are low income and students of color.
