My second graders will use the number cards, dice, and unifix cubes in a multitude of partner games as well as individual learning and whole group instruction. The Legos and magnetic shapes will allow my students to team up to not only build structures, but to test theories and revisit ideas taught in STEAM.
WITHOUT these materials, I fear key concepts in number sense and math fluency will not be internalized. I've used materials like these in my old school and was heartbroken when I found out that I would not be able to carry them to my new school!
