The classroom carpet is where we spend the majority of our whole class learning time, with our focal point being the classroom easel. So much teaching and learning happens around our easel. I read big books, students help compose shared writing pieces, we sort numbers and letters on the pocket chart, we create anchor charts on ways to add together and we follow along to nursery rhymes and songs.
The easel would allow me to use magnets to display student work, support books on the ledge, store markers, and pointers and hang pocket charts and chart paper, all at eye level to my class of Kindergarteners. The easel would be used for all subjects at multiple times throughout the day.
