These items will be used to teach our students and families how to have a healthier lifestyle. We will use the refrigerator to store healthy foods that our students will use to learn how to prepare healthy meals. Our school is becoming a "Green and Healthy School" and it is in the works of the redevelopment of our playground. Our new playground will include green space specifically raised bed gardens, orchards, and other plants/flowers. Students will learn how to properly care for these plants and flowers. We will teach our students how to prepare healthy meals from the vegetables/fruits we will have in our gardens.
Our students will learn basic life skills from the help of these items that will assist them in their futures. Our families will also be able to come in to our school for seminars on healthy living and learn how to cook healthier meals at home. We will also develop a healthy cooking class for our students to partake in that will teach them the importance of eating healthy meals. We will use the stove to cook these meals and teach students these basic life skills. We will also use these items during family engagement nights to provide food for our families and teach them food preparation skills they can do at home with their families. These items will serve a great purpose at our school this year as we continue to become a "Green and Healthy" school as well as the years to come.
