These drums can be used by all the students in our school - grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. Music provides a window into other cultures. By learning drum music from other cultures, we will be able to compare and contrast drum music from around the world. Students will be able to see how different cultures celebrate, motivate, and teach through music. These drums will be used in our practice of rhythms and notation. They will also be used to learn specific drum music from other cultures. Kindergarteners will be able to echo and create simple patterns. Students' abilities will grow as they grow. Sixth graders will be able to learn and perform complex pieces of music as well as creating compositions of their own. We currently have 5 similar drums and a variety of small percussion instruments but we have as many as 32 students in a class. More drums will allow more students to participate and will create an authentic sound.
