In my classes, seeing math come to life makes it easier to understand. Being able to easily manipulate equations (and their graphs) and perform different calculations allows them to make necessary connections between topics. On standardized tests, students are only allowed to use handheld graphing calculators. The TI-84 Plus CE is the most user-friendly one available to students today. Getting them accustomed to using the calculator in my class, I believe, builds confidence and thus sets them up for a more successful testing environment and also for math classes beyond my high school classroom.
