We are requesting five rectangular activity tables. In math we start with a challenging question that partners work on together. Partner teams share out their thoughts and little by little the challenging problem is solved. Student are able to check with their partner to reassure or redirect thinking. Students are expected to explain their answers. As a teacher, I can listen to explanations and ask questions to check their knowledge and thinking. These tables would enhance collaboration. Everyday we compare or explain to our shoulder partner.
The goal is to create problem solvers!
Students gain confidence explaining and speaking. They learn that they can solve problems and apply what they know to other problems. Being able to solve problems is a life long skill. Life is full of problems and my goal is to help them in Life.
