Advisors at my school spend 30 minutes every day reading literature aloud, in an effort to help reluctant readers experience a range of genres and find stories that engage them.
The donations to this project will give us an ample supply of newly published, high quality literature to plan our read-alouds for the year.
Many of the books I selected are part of a series or are written by prolific YA authors, which will help me point students who enjoyed a particular book towards other reading material.
After I complete a book talk or whole class read aloud for each book, it will be incorporated into our classroom library so that students will have a greater selection of inspiring, engaging books to choose from for their independent reading.
