My classroom has a large glass door that leads to a brick courtyard. We currently have a bird feeder and a successful garden. I want my students to have more tools and resources to learn about the world outside our classroom and ways to study bits of the outside world inside our room. We are located near a large body of water, so in addition to common backyard birds, we often see water fowl. I have the basic start ups for science exploration, but the requested items will help make the connection between science and the world. My class last year planted the current garden and my new incoming class will benefit from the chance to help the current garden and plan their own. Since my students have delays, the hands on experience is even more valuable to make concepts concrete.
I love taking our classroom outside and the items requested will give my students more ways to explore with new eyes!
