I'm requesting literature that teaches tolerance and empathy including Those Shoes, The Name Jar, The Invisible Boy, Rosie Revere, Kindness Starts with You, and many more.
Adding this collection of books to my classroom will give my fifth graders the opportunity to build their love for reading while also teaching them valuable life lessons about tolerance, kindness, and empathy.
With characters and plots that my students can genuinely relate to and connect with, these books will be invaluable in supporting our daily class meetings centered around character education and social and emotional learning. Additionally, it would promote meaningful discourse among my students and help to instill core values in students that are visible both in and out of the classroom.
