There are several basic literacy skills that need to be fluent early on such as sight words, letter identification and letter sounds. Children lose interest in practicing these skills over and over, but having daily access to a computer will allow them to practice in fun and engaging ways through the many online programs we have available.
A huge advantage to having technology is the immediate feedback and correction these programs offer. When we do something over and over no matter if it's right or wrong it becomes habit. Having immediate feedback will help children practice skills in the correct way from the start, which will improve fluency, accuracy and lead them to the love of reading.
