As a special education teacher, one thing I am tasked with is running reading intervention groups for our students who are reading below level. For this project, I am requesting six different Bluford series books to use with these intervention groups.
Over the years, I have seen students gravitate toward Bluford books and they fly off my shelf! They are so high interest (with a low readability), that the kids love them and feel successful reading them.
In our intervention groups, students will not only read the books, they will discuss the plot and characters, and also make real-world connections to the text. This should help them improve their reading level over the course of this school year.
