The Make Today Pretty Project is a compilation of projects staff members and students have and will embark on to make our campus shine.
This project, will help all 105 of our students. We have what we call exceptional children, who may have a social or mental disorder that makes it difficult for them to work in large classroom settings, so they work in micro-environments, sometimes only with 2 or 3 students and often outdoors. This set up consists of individualized and creative learning plans that help build social skills and work ethic.
Other students are immersed in a somewhat normal classroom environment with up to 15 students. A creative outlet, as in my art class, or inspiration, provides a source for students to express themselves and have visual positive affirmation. Coming to school, may be the only daily uplift some of our kids receive.
There is nothing more inspiring than being in a beautiful place, walking into a school and knowing that someone cares about you because of the way they care for the campus. Though we try on our campus, because we are a small program we don't have the funds alotted for makeovers. So our kids are left with a bare, sterile environment. With a small peaceful space in the form of a wooden freestanding porch swing, students will have the resources to escape from any stresses they are facing, in the day or at home, and just rock their cares away on something pretty.
