I have been teaching special students for 17 years. I plan to continue to teach this dynamic of students. I have found that many students with disabilities have difficulty focusing on their tasks because they need to be able to move around a lot. When given alternative seating, most students seem to learn better because they are more apt to focus on the lesson and not be distracted by their need to get up out of their seats when I am teaching.
Wobble seating throughout my classroom will allow all students the same opportunity to thrive. By having the "movable" discs, if needed, the students can take these from room to room, as I teach resource, so the students attend general education and special education classes. and return the discs at the end of the day while working with me.
