My students come from low income neighborhoods and have experienced more than their fair share of violence, poverty, and struggles around immigration. Yet they still bring an energy and resiliency that amazes me. Building on their strengths, our school addresses their significant academic needs while preparing all our students for college. Society would believe most of my students apathetic. But give them a good book, clear structure and they are thrilled to be reading and learning.
