Our library is the hub of our classroom and each book placed in it is treated with care and enjoyed by many students. My classroom library is a place that students really enjoy - they stretch out to read, curl up in a chair to work independently, and learn about each other while discussing books.
Many students in my classroom have yet to find a book that will hook them and keep them engaged in reading, but the graphic novels and the high interest novels that I have selected are books that can do just that. All of the books that I have chosen were picked with my students in mind. These books offer students a manageable way to begin their love of reading. Graphic novels are a non-threatening way to increase reading stamina and the high interest books that I have selected are ones in which students can identify with the character.
