Understanding context in world history is crucial, so it's important to set the scene. Typically I would establish the setting with a piece of historical writing or YouTube video about the topic, but sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. A first person perspective with virtual reality would be the perfect picture. Sixth graders would find the look into history fascinating.
Dissections are the most engaging and real-life hands-on experience for science. We would be dissecting creatures like starfish to study invertebrates and frogs to study vertebrates. Students would learn anatomy and physiology through this activity, as well as cell and organ functions.
