How many of you walk into a coffee house and instantly feel at home? How many of you leave the stressors of the world once you step in said environment? Well, I can't provide the following: magically delicious caffeinated beverages, sugary goodness of the baked goods, deli options, free wi-fi, air-conditioning. However, with your generous donations, I can provide the comfort of flexible seating. Many students spend more time in school than their own homes. My dream is to create an environment conducive to all students to feel "at home" in the classroom. Gone are the good old days of traditional rows, and the teacher from Charlie Brown instructing. If one can't take a daily field trip to a nearby coffee house, then let's bring one to the students! THE TOP TEN REASONS YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS WILL BENEFIT THE FUTURE: 10. Students need to be comfortable when they learn. 9. Promotes collaboration among students. 8. Many flexible seating options help with sensory input-allowing individuals to focus and process information. 7. One can't expect a whole class to stay seated at an uncomfortable desk for an hour, or more at a time. 6. Provide multiple seating options for student, and give them a choice to determine where they LEARN best. 5. Allows students to change seats as needed. 4. Students don't operate the same way everyday. Some days they need to work alone, and some days in a group. 3. Students are given a feeling of choice over their environment-rather than chained to a desk all day. 2. Gives off a sense of not being in a setting where they are forced to learn. 1. For many individuals, students spend more time at school than their own home. Why not provide a place to relax and learn?
